Orius, winner of the 2024 Galaxie Award

The Galaxie Award recognizes innovations, technologies, products, services, and applications from the space sector in France. Orius was selected as the 2024 Galaxie Award winner for its hydroponic cultivation units capable of producing plants on Earth or in future space bases.

With our cultivation systems like the Biomebox®, the high-precision hydroponic cultivation unit created by Orius, it is possible to recreate a biome, an ecosystem that support plant development.

Temperature, light, humidity, irrigation, and nutrition: all these parameters are customized and monitored according to the specific needs of each plant, whether on Earth or in future space bases.

Orius and its hydroponic cultivation units have been selected as the 2024 winner by the members of the Galaxie Club jury.

With CNES, the french spatial agency, we are designing cultivation systems to meet multiple challenges:

  • Autonomy
  • Ease of use
  • Precision
  • Versatility (to produce a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, or cereals and achieve target caloric goals while providing dietary diversity)
  • Resource-efficient management (to minimize dependence on terrestrial supplies)

On Earth, the technologies we have developed combine precision, reliability, and energy efficiency, allowing us to provide consistently high-quality natural ingredients year-round, in the volumes desired by our clients.

But we go further! Thanks to our biological expertise, we explore the full potential of plants and their metabolic pathways to optimize their chemical composition.
